Anemia is a prevalent health issue among adolescent girls, particularly in developing countries. Primarily caused by iron deficiency, poor dietary habits, and inadequate adherence to iron supplementation regimens. This condition has detrimental effects, including decreased learning concentration, fatigue, reduced productivity, and an increased risk of pregnancy complications. Enhancing adherence to iron supplementation is a critical strategy that warrants a comprehensive review. This study aims to identify and analyze research articles related to adolescent girls' adherence to iron supplementation for anemia prevention through a systematic literature review of articles published in the Science Direct, Ebscohost, and Google Scholar databases between 2019 and 2024. The inclusion criteria comprise research articles that focus on adolescent girls' adherence to iron supplementation and its relationship to anemia prevention. Five articles met the criteria and were analyzed. The review findings indicate that adherence to iron supplementation among adolescent girls varies, with knowledge, family support, and school health programs being significant factors. In conclusion, structured educational interventions and monitoring are essential to promote increased adherence to iron supplementation, thereby reducing the prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls.
