Author Guidelines

Journal of Health Matters (JoHM) is a peer-reviewed semi-annual scientific journal that publishes original research articles, review articles, and case reports in the fields of health, basic medical research, clinical research, applied medical science, and public health research.

The manuscript management process is conducted online through the JoHM’s website. Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes editorial screening to ensure it meets review eligibility criteria, including adherence to author guidelines and a plagiarism check (Turnitin score below 10%). Manuscripts that do not meet these initial requirements will be rejected and not processed further for review. Authors wishing to resubmit must make necessary improvements and submit the revised manuscript as a new submission.

Manuscripts selected for publication in JoHM undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Each submitted manuscript is evaluated by at least two experts in the relevant scientific fields and editorial executives. The review process is completed within a maximum of two months for the initial review round.

The reviewed manuscript can be classified into four categories:

  1. Accepted without revisions (Accepted Submission),
  2. The manuscript requires minor revisions before acceptance (Required Revision),
  3. The author needs to make substantial improvements, and the manuscript will undergo another round of review (Resubmit for Review),
  4. The manuscript cannot be accepted for publication (Decline Submission).

NOTE

  • Authors have a two-week window to improve their manuscript upon notification of results; failure to do so results in automatic cancellation of publication and withdrawal of all previous acceptance statements.
  • During the review process, manuscripts can be withdrawn without refunding the review fee, but a withdrawal fee applies to reviewed manuscripts.
  • Once accepted, manuscripts undergo editing by the editors, and authors must approve the edited version within two weeks.
  • After approval, the manuscript undergoes layout preparation before online publication; authors must approve the layout within one week. Online publication precedes the production of hardcopy editions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is 1.15-spaced; uses a 11-point of Segoe UI font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  7. All Authors agree to submit the manuscript to the Journal of Health Matters (JoHM) Universitas Bangka Belitung, and will not to submit in another journal.
  8. Author is not allowed to submit the same manuscript in another journal (make double/multiple submission). Author is not allowed to withdraw submitted manuscripts, when the manuscript is still in the peer-reviewing process. If Author violates this rule, the author will be blacklisted for publication in this journal.

Author is responsible to get permission from previous publisher or copyright holder if an author is re-using any part of paper (i.e. figure or figures) published elsewhere, or that is copyrighted.
