Abstract

The rapid pace of modernization has influenced lifestyle changes, including an increased preference for instant and convenient foods and beverages that are low in nutritional value. One notable trend is the increase in consumption of packaged sweetened beverages, which are popular among all age groups due to their pleasant taste and affordable price. However, these beverages contain excessive amounts of sugar and can cause various metabolic disorders, including early-onset diabetes. This study aims to improve families' knowledge, attitudes, and habits regarding the consumption of packaged sweetened beverages through health education on PHBS (Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors). Interventions were carried out on two families in Pangkalpinang, Air Itam area (Mr. M and Mr. E) who had a habit of consuming sweet drinks, especially for their children. The first family (Mr. M) consisted of four people and the second family (Mr. E) consisted of five people. The education was conducted through lectures, leaflets, videos, and questionnaires to assess changes before and after the three-day education program for each family. The results showed a significant increase in the participants' understanding and behavior. After receiving the education, the results showed an 87.5% increase in knowledge, an 87.5% increase in positive attitudes, and a 62.5% change in habits. In conclusion, this educational activity effectively increased awareness and encouraged healthier consumption practices within families, highlighting the importance of continuous public health education to reduce the risks associated with excessive consumption of sweetened beverages.
